Creating a SAN Cluster

When you construct a cluster, you may activate Virtual SAN.


  • Inside the vSphere Website Client, right-click a server center and choose New Cluster.
  • In the Names text box, give clusters a name. The vSphere Client browser displays this title.
  • Select OK after selecting the vSAN Switch ON check box. The cluster is shown in the list.
  • Hosts should be added to the SAN cluster. Check Add Hosts to the SAN Cluster for further information.
  • Hosts, even without capability devices, can be part of the SAN cluster. Add host with bandwidth for the best outcomes.

When you enable Virtual SAN, a datastore is created, and the Virtual Data storage source is registered. Virtual SAN database suppliers are built-in software systems that interact with the datastore’s storage capacity to vCenter Server.

Configuration of a SAN cluster

  • Inside the vSphere Web, go to a preexisting cluster.
  • Select the Configure option from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose General from the vSAN menu and select the Configure button.

If you have a 3 -host cluster and the Primary degree of failure to accept is set to one, for instance.   • Validate the parameters for SAN VMkernel connections on the Networking validation screen, then select Next.
